We've recently become aware that playing Diablo III with the latest Catalyst 12.4 drivers for ATI cards may cause some visual artifacts for specific hardware configurations.
This issue affects users of ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 36 graphics cards under Windows Vista and Windows 7.

By going through nvidia settings and re-optimizing I can get it to launch. Only not up to date is that windows 10 doesn't have the new anniversary update yet because there are some fragile files that need to be finalised first before attempting any big scary update for windows that can screw a lot over.
Reinstalled all blizzard games."repaired" games - say they didn't need anydeleted caches, folders etc.
